Hello all,

This week in Reception, our focus has been on construction and small world play. The children have been busy using their imagination and creativity to build some amazing creations, including enclosures, castles, car garages, tall towers, aeroplanes and many more wonderful structures !It has been lovely to see the children working together as a team, sharing ideas, solving problems and supporting one another as they brought their ideas to life. Through their play, they explored different ways to build, balance and connect materials, developing their creativity, curiosity and problem-solving skills.

Our construction and small world activities also provided valuable opportunities for the children to develop the three prime areas of learning:

  • Communication and Language: The children talked about their ideas, explained what they were building, listened to their friends and learned new vocabulary related to construction and their creations.

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development: They practised sharing resources, taking turns, cooperating with others and working together towards a common goal.

  • Physical Development: They strengthened their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination as they handled, joined, balanced and carefully positioned different construction materials.

Maths

This week in maths we were learning about numbers 1,2 and 3 by finding quantities, subitizing, comparing numbers and problem solving tasks.

Phonics Please revise all of the Autumn 1 letter sounds at home from the hand outs you have been given.

You can also use the link below to access Little Wandle's section for parents. The children are currently working on recognising Phase 2 sounds Autumn one. The video on the website will help the children to develop the fluency and accuracy in naming the letter sounds.

School uniform

After the holidays, all children need to be wearing the winter uniform which is the navy tracksuit (not leggings). The children should not be wearing trainers but school shoes. Please, make sure that all their uniform is clearly labelled.

Have a great half term break!
