Reception

 Hello all, This week we continued learning about the Life cycle of a butterfly. We can't believe how quickly our caterpillars are growing. We think they have tripled in size since last week. The children are very observant and can describe the changes in the caterpillar's appearance very well. Throughout the week we have been story telling 'The very hungry caterpillar'. The children used the props to sequence the events of the story.  This week the children have been practicing for sports day and have spent lots of time with Mr Mills running on the track. We have looked at what sports days looks like in other schools so that the children had an idea what it actually meant. I hope you all had a good day watching or for some having to join in with the activities.   Maths In maths we have continued learning about money and have been looking at the values of English notes. The children made their shopping list and predicted how much money they would need for the shopping.

 Hello all, This week we have turned our fruit and milk station into a shop. The children have been learning about money and have had to pay for their fruit and milk using the till and coins. It has been a great way to introduce money to the children in a fun way. Next week we will learn to recognise banknotes.  We have also had a delivery of caterpillars which we are going to look after and put into our butterfly enclosure. The children will be learning about the life cycle of a butterfly and other life cycles in our environment. On Thursday is our sports day. The children will be in groups with their siblings and other children throughout the school. When you arrive you will be able to join your child's group as they do activities. Each group has a member of staff with them so please be reassured that your child will be ok. We will congregate on the school field so find your child and join in.  Hello all, Over this half term in Reception we are going to be learning about the use of electronic devices. This week the children have been using a camera to take photos of each other. They really enjoyed doing this. They were amazing at striking funny poses and behind the camera lens. We are going to make a display of  our work in the classroom. Maths In maths we have started learning about money. It would be great if during the weekend the children could use money for buying items. Potters Bar carnival could be a great opportunity for it. Phonics This week we have introduced the new Phonics Scheme to the class:  Little Wandle Letters and Sounds revised. You have all received a letter which explains the new reading system. If you have any questions please speak to myself or Mrs Robinson. Today the children have taken a reading book home and a library book which they are not expected to read on their own but to share with the family. Please make sure that the books are returned to s
