Hello all,                                               This week we began to look at the artwork by Stephen Wiltshire. This is something we will be continuing into next week. The children are going to reproduce some art in the style of Stephen and also learn about his life. On Friday we talked about Remembrance Day. We listened to a story called "Poppy's Day" on CBeebies. This is a child friendly story all about remembering. The children were excellent at understanding elements of this story, and it was a good example of how we should remember others. We have marked Remembrance Day with a minute of silence. We closed our eyes and thought of people who keep us safe. The children made their own poppies using paper, scissors, glue and tape. Next week we will be learning about pets and how to look after them. If your child has a pet at home, please bring a picture to school. Phonics In phonics the children were introduced to the letter sounds: v, w, x, y.  If you have not

Diwali always falls sometime between October and November, but the exact date varies each year as the Hindu calendar is based on the Moon. This year Diwali was on the 24th of October. The children really enjoyed learning about this festival, and we created our own rangoli patterns and divas. We have talked about bonfire night, especially the safety element of the firework display and the children are looking forward to seeing some fireworks.  Next week we are going to be learning about an amazing artist called Stephen Wiltshire. Phonics In Phonics the children were introduced to digraphs: ff, ll, ss and the letter sound j. Our tricky words were: put, pull, full, as.
