Hello everyone, I can't believe this was our last full week in Reception. It has been a turbulent year for all of us but the children have adopted well to changes and have grown in so many ways over the year. They are now ready for the new challenge of moving on to Year 1.  The children are familiar with their new teacher Ms Davis as she was teaching them for over a week and we have shown the children their new classroom . They are very excited about going to Year 1. On Thursday the children had their hearing and vision tested at school. You will receive the outcome of the tests soon. This week we have been talking about holidays and the different means of travel. As not many of us will be able to go on holiday this year, we were also thinking about the ways of spending fun time when we stay at home. During the week we have been revisiting our phonics and have been consolidating what we have learnt in maths. If you have any school books at home, please return them to school on Mon
Hello everyone, This week was all about football. The children loved singing and dancing to 'Sweet Caroline' and 'Football's Coming home'. They have made England flags using different materials and most of all they loved playing football games. We have learnt about some football rules and the scoring system. This week we have been also discussing our emotions based on 'The Colour Monster' book. We were thinking about situations when we felt happy, sad, angry and scared. We also looked for the ways of making ourselves feel better. For example we thought about listening to a nice song, going for a walk, exercising or reading a book. Next week we will be talking about travel and  holidays.. Phonics This week we have continued with reading short stories and with the tricky word recognition.  Next week we will focus on writing sentences. Maths In maths we we have been revisiting 'one less' and exploring subtraction .  Next week we will focus on recording
Hello all, Thank you to all the parents who have managed to take part in the parent -teacher consultations. It was lovely to talk to you about your child's progress. I will send children's end of year reports and the learning journals home next week. Ms Davis had a wonderful week with Reception. She got to know the children well and they have become familiar with her too. This will make the transition to Year 1 much smoother. I have heard that the children have had a lot of fun during the Sports Day. It was such a lovely, sunny day for it and I'm sure you have enjoyed it too. This week the children were learning about the effects of physical exercise on their bodies.  Next week we will be learning about our emotions and our focus story will be 'The Colour Monster' by Anna Llenas. Maths This week the children continued with addition, next week we will move on to subtraction. Phonics In phonics we will focus on our tricky words and we will practise letter formation.
