Hello everyone, This week the children showed a great interest in construction. We have noticed lots of creative designs made out of Lego,Duplo, wooden bricks and Brio. When the children are involved in construction, they work on their creative development, physical skill, maths, knowledge of the world, language and communication skills. It is lovely to see the children communicating with each other and showing pride in their work.  On Friday the children have made some delicious pumpkin soup which most of the class have enjoyed. We have read 'The Room on the Broom' by Julia Donaldson and were thinking about our own spells. Phonics In Phonics we were practicing blending letter sounds and we have used magnetic letters for building words. This week our focus story was " The Gingerbread Man". We have been been using adjectives  to describe the main characters in the story. The children really enjoyed making gingerbread biscuits. Next week we will be looking at the artist Stephen Wiltshire and creating art inspired by his works. This is part of our celebration of Black History Month.  What is Black History Month?  Hello all, This week Reception class was leaning about snakes. We were very lucky to see and touch a real snake skin which came from Ms Ellis's pet snake. This made children super excited and wanting to find out more facts about snakes. Throughout the week the children have been practising the Harvest songs for the Harvest festival. We are looking forward to see parents and carers who are able to attend the coffee morning on Friday the 8th of October at 10-10.30 am . Please do not worry if you are not able to attend as the staff will look after the children during the morning. For more information see the newsletter.
