 Hello all,

This week Reception class was leaning about snakes. We were very lucky to see and touch a real snake skin which came from Ms Ellis's pet snake. This made children super excited and wanting to find out more facts about snakes.

Throughout the week the children have been practising the Harvest songs for the Harvest festival. We are looking forward to see parents and carers who are able to attend the coffee morning on Friday the 8th of October at 10-10.30 am . Please do not worry if you are not able to attend as the staff will look after the children during the morning. For more information see the newsletter.

Phonics

This week the children were introduced to the letter sounds and sounds: s, a, t, p.

Next week we will introduce the letters: i and n. We will read and make words with the letters we already know.

Maths

In maths we have focused on recognising numbers. Next week we will be practising counting objects with one to one correspondence.

 Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen. We have seen lots of amazing pies and beautifully decorated cakes.  The children also loved doing a puppet show. They used puppets and dressed up to perform for their friends.  Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all. The children are happy to be back and have settled well into their routines. This term we have decided to hold some child initiated stay and play sessions every Tuesday morning starting next week.  Hello all, We have a had a very Chinese week in the unit with lots of exciting activities relating to the Chinese New Year. The children have made Chinese dragons, prepared and eaten noodles using chop sticks, looked at China on our map and learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story. It has been a very busy week. The children have also tried to do some Chinese writing which was fantastic. We always enjoy this festival as it really captivates their interest  especially as we are looking at other countries each day on our map. On Tuesday, Reception class went for their first school trip to The Snow Centre. The children were very excited going on a coach as for most of them it was the first time having that experience. I'm glad all the children found the courage to go down the slope. The children were amazing and the staff from the centre commented on our children's excellent behaviour.
