Hello all, This week we have been learning about worms. The children found lots of them in the garden and have created worm houses and even a hospital for the injured worm.  We used information books to find out facts about worms. While reading 'Superworm ' by Julia Donaldson, the children were thinking of ideas of what could the Superworm become e.g. a belt, a bracelet or a rope for summersaults. Throughout the week we have been singing and acting out  'Five Little worms on the garden Lawn' which the children have really enjoyed. We have discussed the vocabulary from the song such us: a lawn, a magpie, at the crack of dawn. Phonics  In phonics the children have been introduced to the letter sounds: g, o, c, k and the tricky word 'is'. Please revisit these sounds at home during the weekend. We greatly appreciate your support. Maths In Math we have been counting objects with one to one correspondence. The children used acorns for counting activities and for play

Hello all, This week Reception class practised group reading routines. We have practised turning pages one at a time, checking the numbers on the pages and taking turns when answering questions. The children are very enthusiastic when reading with their friends and I'm sure they will be keen to read with you at home. Phonics  This week in phonics the children were introduced to the letter sounds: i, n, m, d. Next week we will be learning the following sounds: g, o, c, k.  Maths In Maths we were looking at numbers of personal significance e.g. our age, house number, etc. Thank you for sending the pictures with the house numbers to school. We will put them on our classroom display. Next week in Maths we will focus on counting objects with one to one correspondence. When outside, the children were fascinated by worms. They have shown their caring nature by making little houses for worms. Following the children's interest we are planning to learn some facts about worms next week .

Hello all, What a busy week we have had in foundation. The children have settled so well and are beginning to relax into their learning.  We  have enjoyed the outdoor area as we continue to have the warm sun. We have started to learn songs for the Harvest festival and the children have enjoyed singing and dancing with Mrs Lawrence. We are really pleased with the way the children are engaging with each other and all the activities. They are confident in asking us for help and also if they are a little unsettled they are comfortable connecting to a familiar adult for support. I have sent home the children's learning journals today so that you can see who their key person is. The book also includes a settling in form with an observation from us of your child's first 2 weeks. Could you please fill in the parent section and return the book on Tuesday so that we can start to use the books in the setting. Phonics This week the children were introduced to the letter sounds: s, a, t, p

Hello all,  It was lovely to welcome the new Reception class this week. We were very impressed with how calm and engaged in play the children were on their first week of school. The children are slowly becoming familiar with the new routines and new friendships are being established. We have enjoyed singing and story time together. The class took part in PE sessions with Mr Mills and the music lesson with Mrs Lawrence which were lots of fun. On Friday, Reception join the whole school for assembly to celebrate the life of Queen Elizabeth the II. Next week Reception class will start Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics programme. The children will be introduced to the letter sounds: s, a, t, p. On Thursday the 15th of September, we hope to see you at all 5.30 pm for the Phonics information meeting.
