Hello all, This week we have focused on Autumn poems. This one was our favourite: Conkers Five shiny conkers  on a chestnut tree Beautiful and brown  Don't you all agree? Along came the wind and down one fell A squirrel came to find it in its spiky shell. Thank you all so much for bringing the natural recourses to school. The children love using the conkers, acorns, pinecones and leaves for activities. These were particularly useful during maths sessions as we were matching, sorting and comparing quantities. Next week in maths we will focus on patterns. Phonics In phonics this week the children were introduced to the letter sounds: g,o,c,k. Please, use the phonics sheets which we have given out to you last week and the Little Wandle website to revisit the letter sounds which we have already covered in school.  Hello all, As Autumn approaches, we are looking at some of the changes that are starting to take place in the environment. The children brought in conkers to school and we have been learning a song for  Harvest Festival all about conkers. Each term we create art work that is displayed around the school. Our first theme is art inspired by water. The children used a variety of resources to create colours and textures from the sea, they also weaved textiles onto a weaving frame. I have included some photos of  the end result. The children are now becoming familiar with all the routines of the week and they are beginning to become independent in accessing their learning. We will be supporting them with this over the coming weeks. Phonics  In phonics the children have been introduced to the letter sounds: i,n,m,d and the tricky word. Please revisit these sounds at home during the weekend. We greatly appreciate your support. Here is the links for the Little Wandle website. It is a useful re

Hello all, What a busy week we have had in foundation. The children have settled so well and are beginning to relax into their learning.  We  have enjoyed the outdoor area as we continue to have the warm sun. The class played a variety of balancing games during PE lesson and the children have enjoyed singing and dancing with Mrs Lawrence during the whole school singing assembly and the music lesson.. We are really pleased with the way the children are engaging with each other and all the activities. They are confident in asking us for help and also if they are a little unsettled they are comfortable connecting to a familiar adult for support. Phonics This week we have begun learning phonics . The children were introduced to the letter sounds: s, a, t, p. We have been identifying initial sounds in words and have practised oral blending. Maths In Maths we focused on counting objects with one to one correspondence and we looked at numbers in our environment. Learning journals We sent home

Hello all,  It was lovely to welcome the new Reception class this week. We were very impressed with how calm and engaged in play the children were on their first week of school. The children are slowly becoming familiar with the new routines and new friendships are being established. We have enjoyed singing and story time together. The class took part in PE sessions with Mr Mills and the music lesson with Mrs Lawrence which were lots of fun.  Each week Reception class will take part in three PE sessions  ( Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) and on Fridays the children will be joining the whole school for the music assembly and will have a music lesson.  Next week Reception class will start Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics programme and will take part in daily maths sessions.  Please remember to bring named welly boots next week if you haven't done it yet. The children should also bring a water bottle each day to school with water and not juice. Have a lovely weekend! Mrs Sheehan
