Hello all,

As Autumn approaches, we are looking at some of the changes that are starting to take place in the environment. The children brought in conkers to school and we have been learning a song for  Harvest Festival all about conkers.

Each term we create art work that is displayed around the school. Our first theme is art inspired by water. The children used a variety of resources to create colours and textures from the sea, they also weaved textiles onto a weaving frame. I have included some photos of  the end result.

The children are now becoming familiar with all the routines of the week and they are beginning to become independent in accessing their learning. We will be supporting them with this over the coming weeks.

Phonics

In phonics the children have been introduced to the letter sounds: i,n,m,d and the tricky word. Please revisit these sounds at home during the weekend. We greatly appreciate your support.

Here is the links for the Little Wandle website. It is a useful resource for parents and carers to use. The powepoint information is on the website for you.

Maths

In Math we have been counting objects with one to one correspondence. The children used acorns and conkers for counting activities. If you are out for a walk with your children, please collect some natural resources for play and maths activities such as conkers, pinecones, acorns, leaves and bring them to school.

We would also appreciate if you could bring some boxes from your recycling bin for junk modelling. The children are very creative and would love to turn the boxes into robots, mobile phones and other objects to support their play.

Have a great weekend!

Mrs Sheehan
