Hello all, This week Reception class was learning about the life cycle of a frog. The children love watching our tadpoles and have made interesting observations throughout the week. We are waiting for the next stage of the cycle when the tadpoles will grow their back legs.  We have really appreciated the lovely sunshine after weeks of cold weather. The children loved playing and learning outside. Ball games and laser tug role play were particularly popular amongst the children. After the half term we will be learning about healthy foods. Phonics  This week we have focused on making sentences with our tricky words and have been practising reading longer words. PenPals This week we have started practising letters from 'the curly caterpillars' family. So far we have practised: c, a, d and o. We have been also writing words that begin with these sounds.  Hello everyone, This week Reception class was learning about spiders. The children were very excited to share their experiences of  spiders and have created lots of scary spiders in art. They used their knowledge to write spider facts. As this week was Walk to school week, we have been discussing the benefits of walking to school. The children are aware of all the powers that walking gives us. They know that walking makes us: super strong, super smart, super safe, super smiley and super sustainable. Keep walking everyone! We can't believe how quickly our caterpillars are growing and we are waiting for them to start making their cocoons. Mrs Philips was very kind to bring some tadpoles to school on Friday so next week we will be learning about life cycle of a frog. Very exciting! Phonics In phonics the children learnt the tricky word: 'some'. We have been using phoneme frames for segmenting sounds into words. Next week we will learn the tricky words: 'come' and '

Hello all,  This week we have received a delivery of Caterpillars to Butterflies growing kit. The children are very excited to watch our caterpillars grow and have even made up names for each one of them.  Using models the children told the story of a butterfly life cycle. Throughout the week we have been reading stories related to the subject. Next week we will be learning about spiders. The children found a huge spider in our garden which they were observing  from a distance. They had some spider facts to share with me and have asked lots of questions .We have spoken about the respect we should have for all the living creatures. Phonics This week we have focused on the tricky word 'like'. In our daily phonics lessons we have used phoneme frames for segmenting words into phonemes. The children are very good at singing the alphabet song backwards. Please practise the names of the letters as opposed to the letter sounds at home. Next week we will learn the tricky word 'some

Hello everyone, The highlight of this week in Reception class was making magic potions and spells. The children have shown lots of excitement while exploring the magic theme and they have written brilliant magic spells and potion recipes. The spells certainly had magic powers as I have been turned into a frog, a grumpy old lady and a clown. We have read and discussed 'The Magic Porridge Pot' story. At the end of the week we have put all of  our worries in the magic hat and we have made them disappear. As the children show a great interest in bugs which they find outdoors, next week we will focus on exploring minibeasts. Phonics This week the children have learnt the tricky word: 'have'. We continue revising Phase 3 letter sounds. I can often see groups of children using our letter sound display while playing 'teachers'. Fantastic learning through play. Next week the children will be introduced to the tricky words: "do" and "like".  Maths Rec
