 Hello everyone,  This week in Reception we were looking at the life cycle of a bird. We have watched a short video of birds looking after baby chicks and have made comparisons to how people look after their babies. When out and about at the weekend please keep your eyes wide open for nests and chicks. It would be lovely if the children could bring a photo or a picture of a nest of baby birds  Phonics  In phonics we have been identifying digraphs, trigraphs and the tricky words in sentences. We will carry on with this activity next week. Maths In maths we have been working on doubling quantities. We used a ladybird and the printing technique to make doubles.  Next week we will be measuring length  and height. PE In PE the children continued working on their tennis skills.  Hello all, It is lovely to see all the children rested and full of energy for the Summer term.  This week Reggie brought a bird nest to school and all the children were very excited about it. This lead us into learning about nests and we will be learning about the Life cycle of a bird next week. The children were amazed to see how much the plants in our school garden have grown during the Easter break. They have made interesting observations when looking after the plants and enjoyed doing observational drawing. Phonics This week in Phonics we have revisited the Phase 3 letter sounds and the tricky words. The children were introduced to the tricky word: 'are'. Next week we will be reading and writing Phase 3 captions.  Maths In maths the children were introduced to the concept of double. We used printing technique to double quantities.  Hello everyone, We have had a very exciting week enjoying Easter activities in school. We have discussed the  Easter traditions and the children have created colourful Easter eggs and Easter cards for their friends and family. The children were thrilled taking part in the Easter egg hunt in our garden and enjoyed making chocolate nests. The smell of melted chocolate put us all in the festive mood.                                          Phonics In phonics we have been practicing reading words with digraphs and we have learnt a new tricky word 'all'. After Easter we will focus on writing captions for pictures. Maths In maths we have been working on developing our understanding of 'half'.
