Hello everyone, What an exciting week we have had with the arrival of our new sand. It was quite emotional as we have not been allowed to use sandpits since the beginning of the pandemic. With that in mind I was the first to jump in. The children have enjoyed this new experience and especially because the weather has been so good. We have created some new experiences for the children in the garden and we will be developing more over the next month. This environment supports the children with risk taking. Risk-taking like other skills, needs to be learned and practiced over time. By empowering children in their self-management, trusting them to make decisions around risk and allowing them to push themselves to that point of risk and danger, we are enabling them to learn and practice their risk assessment skills consistently giving them confidence in their own abilities.   Growing up in a risk averse society, such as we currently have, means that children are not able to practice risk-a

Hello everyone, As we had beautiful sunshine this week we have spent a lot of time playing and exploring outdoors. We have been looking after the flower garden and the children have had their first experience playing on the new side garden. It is not yet complete but they have absolutely loved it and have enjoyed exploring new surfaces, with many climbing and balancing experiences for them to try. We ask that you don't let the children play in this area before or after school as we want it to remain tidy for the children to use during the day.  Our focus story this week was "Jack and the Beanstalk". The children were fantastic at retelling the story and they have planted some beans which we hope are magic too. Next week we will use our knowledge of the story in writing and art.                                                        Irish dancing on St. Patrick's Day Phonics  This week in Phonics we have been reading short stories and discussing the events.  Hello everyone, Thank you so much for the donations of plants for our garden. They are all planted now and the children are looking after them. We have been referring to our experiences of gardening when reading 'Eddie's Garden' story by Sarah Garland. Next week we are going to be using our wildlife garden and the outside classroom to learn about changes in nature in Spring time. We are also planning on lighting our fire pit, weather permitting. Next week on Friday is Red Nose Day. This will be a non uniform day and the children can wear their red noses. We will be learning about meaning of the word 'charity'.                                       Phonics In Phonics the children have been introduced to the letter sounds: 'ure' and 'er'.  Next week we will focus on using our knowledge of phonics in making labels for pictures. Maths In Maths we have started learning about odd and even number which we will continue next week.  Our music teacher Mrs Law

Hello everyone, This week we have been celebrating Shrove Tuesday and World Book Day so we were very busy. The children were very excited wearing their book day costumes and often got into their characters. Throughout the week we were reading books, writing and illustrating our own stories. We have discussed the features of a book such as the title, the author, the illustrator, content page and page numbers. This week we have started planting in our Foundation garden. The children planted some beautiful pansies and we are planning to add some more flowers and vegetables. If you would like to donate some plants to our garden we will be very grateful. Next week we will use photographs to predict what happened next. Phonics This week in phonics the children have been introduced to the tricky words: 'ear' and 'air' and the tricky word: 'was'. We have played Phonics Play game- Buried treasure. The children really enjoyed it and I have promised to them that I will pu
