This week learning in Reception was focused on numbers. We have looked at numbers in our environment and discussed the use of numbers in everyday life.  We have made number lines and have looked at our age and growth. The children have designed birthday cards which we placed on a display. We have used puppets for creative story telling. The children came up with interesting story lines and have really enjoyed the activity. You might want to use some objects for creative story telling at home. We have all enjoyed another barbecue in our outdoor classroom. We have had a lovely song singing session and have tasted barbecued bananas. While outdoors, we have looked at the changing nature around us. We have discussed how the trees are getting ready for winter. We have started the week by celebrating Remembrance day. The children have learnt about the meaning of wearing a poppy, and have created beautiful poppies in art. It was lovely to see individual, unique designs of the flower. At 11 am we have paid respect to the people who care for us and look after us with a minute of silence. A group of children wrote messages on the posted notes, and stack them on the window explaining they write messages to people who died so they know we remember them. Very moving and heart worming for us to see. On Tuesday we had Odd Sock Day for Anti-Bullying. We Have discussed our behaviour towards each other. During the discussion together with the children we have made up a little poem which is a part of the whole school project. Play kindly, be nice to your friends Share toys and shake hands When I feel sad playing with someone will make me better I can give toys to make my friends happier Smile Change starts with us Thank you for supporting Th

The children enjoyed having a hot dog with a cup of worm milk. During the activity we have discussed the fire safety. During the discussion the children have shown awareness of dangers related to fire. We are planning on having outdoor cooking sessions fortnightly. If you have some good ideas for tasty and easy barbecue snacks we could prepare, please share the ideas with us.   During the week we have discussed Autumn weather. We went to the big playground and enjoyed playing with leaves. The children have collected some beautiful leaves which we then graded by  colour from green to dark brown.
