We began our  week with a short trip to the local library. The children  enjoyed the experience and are very keen to get their own library cards. Throughout the week we have celebrated Chinese New Year in the Foundation unit. We have done some Chinese writing, we have tasted some Chinese noodles and have created dragons in art. We have watched The Chinese zodiac story and found out why each year in twelve year cycle was named after certain animals.  During the week we have looked at The Gingerbread man story. We were retelling the story while looking at the pictures and sang songs related to the story. Next week on Wednesday the 5th of February we will be going to the snow centre. The children are very excited and I am sure it will be a wonderful experience for all. Please remember about the suitable clothing for the trip. Have a great weekend. Mrs Sheehan.

We have had another busy and exciting week. Wile in the garden I have noticed a group of children digging a deep hole. When asked what they were doing, they have explained that they are looking for Brodee, the dinosaur which got lost last year. I have encouraged them to dig deeper, and the hard work has paid off as they have found a dinosaur egg. We have waited for the egg to hatch and our little baby dinosaur was born on Friday. We think it is Brodee's sister. After the vote the children have decided the baby dinosaur will be named Bridget. What a lovely name!!! The children made a cosy bed for the baby and wrapped her warm in a towel. On Monday morning we will be going to Oakmere Library. We might have some rain on Monday therefore please make sure that the children wear coats with hoods. They should all have a pair of wellies at school, if you think your child hasn't got wellies or the ones they have might be too small, please bring a pair on Monday. I w

The password of the day which is one of our tricky words occurred to be a great success. The children are excited by it and learn effortlessly. This week we have introduced a map of of the world to our classroom. Each day we gather around the map and discuss the latest news from around the world e.g. the bush fires in Australia, the volcano eruption in Philippines. We also look at the places where our family members come from. We would like the children to bring some pictures or drawings of places they have visited or have a connection with. As a part of our science learning we have carried out a volcano experiment. The children were very excited while listening to the bubbling lava and have created amazing volcanoes in art and construction. In order to develop children's number knowledge and counting skills we have created a new piece of maths equipment. We have recycled our milk bottles and have designed a hundred square grid. The children use the equipment during teacher le
