We began our  week with a short trip to the local library. The children  enjoyed the experience and are very keen to get their own library cards.











Throughout the week we have celebrated Chinese New Year in the Foundation unit. We have done some Chinese writing, we have tasted some Chinese noodles and have created dragons in art. We have watched The Chinese zodiac story and found out why each year in twelve year cycle was named after certain animals. 








During the week we have looked at The Gingerbread man story. We were retelling the story while looking at the pictures and sang songs related to the story.

Next week on Wednesday the 5th of February we will be going to the snow centre. The children are very excited and I am sure it will be a wonderful experience for all. Please remember about the suitable clothing for the trip.

 Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen.  Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once.  Hello all, We have a had a very Chinese week in the unit with lots of exciting activities relating to the Chinese New Year. The children have made Chinese dragons, prepared and eaten noodles using chop sticks, looked at China on our map and learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story. It has been a very busy week. The children have also tried to do some Chinese writing which was fantastic. We always enjoy this festival as it really captivates their interest  especially as we are looking at other countries each day on our map. On Tuesday, Reception class went for their first school trip to The Snow Centre. The children were very excited going on a coach as for most of them it was the first time having that experience. I'm glad all the children found the courage to go down the slope. The children were amazing and the staff from the centre commented on our children's excellent behaviour.
