Hello all,

This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen. We have seen lots of amazing pies and beautifully decorated cakes.

The children also loved doing a puppet show. They used puppets and dressed up to perform for their friends. Following the children's interest, next week, we will create our own puppets.

Phonics

In phonics the children have been introduced to the letter sounds: i, n, m, d. Please revisit these sounds at home during the weekend. We greatly appreciate your support.

Please, use the link below to access Little Wandle's section for parents. The children are currently working on recognising Phase 2 sounds Autumn one. The video on the website will help the children to develop the fluency and accuracy in naming the letter sounds.

I sent home Phase 2 grapheme information sheet. Please use it at home for phonics and letter formation practise. So far, the children have been introduced to the following letter sounds: s, a, t, p, i ,n, m, d.

The children also took home a library book to share with you. Please return the folder with the library book on Monday.

The reading sessions will start on the 7th of October and at the end of that week, on Friday,  the children will take a reading book and a library book home.

The children will be taking their reading folders home on Fridays and should bring them back to school on Mondays.

Maths

Our Maths topic is : Match, sort and compare.

Thank you all so much for bringing the natural recourses to school. The children love using the conkers, acorns, pinecones and leaves for activities. These were particularly useful during maths sessions as we were matching, sorting and comparing quantities and sets of objects.

Have a great weekend!

Mrs Sheehan
