We have finally reach the end of the term and I think we are all ready for some sunshine. The children have enjoyed learning about Christianity and the  Easter story and have been decorating eggs throughout the week. We have got some frogspawn in the unit for the children to observe over the next few weeks. Hopefully there will not be frogs jumping around the unit when we get back. 🐸 We hope you all have a wonderful break and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 18th April. Mrs Sheehan

Hello all, This week on Tuesday,  Reception class took part in an interactive Science workshop. We were amazed when found out that just by heating and cooling air, an egg could be squeezed through a narrow opening of a tube. It was fun making tennis balls fly in the air by using a hairdryer. We all eagerly watched another exciting rocket launch in the school playground. We know, that all of it was done not by magic but by scientific discoveries. We are all inspired by our latest science experiences and and we are keen to learn more. Phonics In phonics we practised reading words ending with -s and -es and we revisited the tricky words. Reading books This week your child will be bringing home a hard copy of their Little Wandle reading book. These books will be sent home on a Friday and MUST be returned the following Wednesday in order for us to distribute them to another group. We recently spent an extensive amount of money updating our book stock. Therefore, any books not returned to sc

Hello all, To mark the Science week, we carried our different experiments in Foundation. On Monday, we  explored the magnetic and non-magnetic objects. On Tuesday, we used magnets and metal objects to create movement on paper. On Wednesday, we placed flowers in the coloured water to learn about the function of the stem in plants. On Friday, we launched a rocket into Space which was super exciting! Next week, the children will be participating in an interactive Science workshop. During the week we went for a nature walk and we were glad to find many signs of Spring  Phonics In phonics we were learning to read words ending with -ing and we looked at compound words such as popcorn, farmyard, rooftop, carpark. Maths In Maths the children were introduced to the concept of doubling. They enjoyed listening to 'My Doggy Double' song which explains how to double quantifies in a fun way. The children used the ten frames and the counters to practised what they have learnt. PE This week in

Hello all, Despite the weather we have been learning about new life and the onset of Spring. The children are beginning to observe the changes in the environment and we are hoping that the weather will soon take a turn for the better. The children have created some amazing art that depicts new life. We focused on daffodils creating art using layering and also made picture of daffodils by bubble painting. These creations are on display in the school corridors. Thank you to all for donating seeds. We are going to keep hold of them a little longer before planting as I think that any frost will kill them.  Next week we are going to be exploring science in depth. Watch this SPACE. Phonics In phonics we have been reading words and sentences with our Phase 3 letter sounds. Please make sure that the children practice the letter sounds regularly so that they will be able to decode more words independently.  Maths This week in maths we have been counting in twos. Each day, the children lined up
