We have begun our week with constructing boats out of junk modelling materials and testing our designs in water. The children loved doing the experiments and have made interesting observations on floating and sinking. They are very much into construction at the moment so please continue bringing empty boxes, pots, bottles. Over the last couple of weeks we have had Miss Davis who is in Year 1 coming to our unit to spend some time with the children. She has observed Reception during carpet sessions and the children did their best to impress her. She will continue the visits as we would like the transition to Y1 to be as smooth as possible for the children. The highlight of the week was Sports Day. The children have practised all the skills during PE lessons with Mr Mills and they have performed so well on the day. On Tuesday 2nd of July we are having Foundation picnic in our garden at 2.15pm. You are all welcome to join in. Summer Festival This Saturday is Little Heath Summer Festiv

Thank you for supporting your children with home learning. The diaries they have created are fantastic and we will place them in children's learning journals. This week we have carried out floating and sinking experiments. The children were very observant and enthusiastic while testing different objects in the water. We will continue with the experiments outdoors on a bigger scale next week as lots of sunshine should be coming our way. The children would love to make boats and floating objects which they could test in the water. Please bring some plastic containers, trays, wine corks, etc to school so the children can create their floating designs. We are sorry we had to cancel the trip but the coach cost was very high and then the entrance fee on top would have made it a very expensive day so we have decided to have a picnic in the grounds, weather permitting. This will be held on the same day in the afternoon so you are all welcome to join us. children will be making their o

The highlight of the week was going on a coach to Manor Lodge school where the children watched Merry Poppins show performed by Manor Lodge pupils. The show was fantastic, and the Little Heath children were an amazing audience. They behaved beautifully during the show, showing respect for the actors. During the week they have created Merry Poppins pictures and have sung the songs from the show. This week Jessica brought butterflies to school which was a real treat. We have learned the life cycle of a butterfly and looked at anatomy of a butterfly. The children were waiting patiently for some sunshine so that we could release the butterflies and let them go to the nature. On Friday the Sun came out from behind the clouds so we let the butterflies fly away. Next week we will explore floating and sinking through experiments. Maths In maths we are working on problem solving through sharing, halving and doubling using quantities 1-20. Phonics We are playing phonics games t

The children are rested, full of creative energy after their half term brake. This week we have been looking at clouds, and have been learning about water cycle. The children showed curiousity during our rain making experiment, and were waiting with excitement for the first drop of rain to fall. While plaing in the side garden we have discovered a bee nest in the ground. We have cordoned off the area to protect the bees, and we are observing the nest from a safe place. As the children learned about the bees before half term, they have made very interesting observations and are able to use correct vocabulary such as nectar, pollen, queen bee, worker bees, etc. Maths In maths we have been working on 3Dshapes and number recognition 1-20. Next week we will play number games to put our number knowledge in practice. Phonics The children use their phonics knowledge in writing and decoding new vocabulary. We continue to expand our knowledge of the tricky words. On Sunday Little Heath
