We have begun our week with constructing boats out of junk modelling materials and testing our designs in water. The children loved doing the experiments and have made interesting observations on floating and sinking. They are very much into construction at the moment so please continue bringing empty boxes, pots, bottles.
Over the last couple of weeks we have had Miss Davis who is in Year 1 coming to our unit to spend some time with the children. She has observed Reception during carpet sessions and the children did their best to impress her. She will continue the visits as we would like the transition to Y1 to be as smooth as possible for the children.
The highlight of the week was Sports Day. The children have practised all the skills during PE lessons with Mr Mills and they have performed so well on the day.
On Tuesday 2nd of July we are having Foundation picnic in our garden at 2.15pm. You are all welcome to join in.
Summer Festival
This Saturday is Little Heath Summer Festival. It will be a lovely family event with lots of attractions for all. We are hoping to see you there.

 Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen. We have seen lots of amazing pies and beautifully decorated cakes.  The children also loved doing a puppet show. They used puppets and dressed up to perform for their friends.  Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all.  Hello all, We have a had a very Chinese week in the unit with lots of exciting activities relating to the Chinese New Year. The children have made Chinese dragons, prepared and eaten noodles using chop sticks, looked at China on our map and learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story. It has been a very busy week. The children have also tried to do some Chinese writing which was fantastic. We always enjoy this festival as it really captivates their interest  especially as we are looking at other countries each day on our map. On Tuesday, Reception class went for their first school trip to The Snow Centre. The children were very excited going on a coach as for most of them it was the first time having that experience. I'm glad all the children found the courage to go down the slope. The children were amazing and the staff from the centre commented on our children's excellent behaviour.
