Hello everyone,
As we had beautiful sunshine this week we have spent a lot of time playing and exploring outdoors. We have been looking after the flower garden and the children have had their first experience playing on the new side garden. It is not yet complete but they have absolutely loved it and have enjoyed exploring new surfaces, with many climbing and balancing experiences for them to try. We ask that you don't let the children play in this area before or after school as we want it to remain tidy for the children to use during the day.
Our focus story this week was "Jack and the Beanstalk". The children were fantastic at retelling the story and they have planted some beans which we hope are magic too. Next week we will use our knowledge of the story in writing and art.
Irish dancing on St. Patrick's Day
Phonics
This week in Phonics we have been reading short stories and discussing the events. Throughout the week the children have been writing labels for pictures.
Next week we will be working on tricky word recognition and on using the tricky words in our writing.
Maths
This week in maths we continued learning about the odd and even numbers. In music Mrs Lawrence introduced the children to 'Odd Bod and Even Steven' song which we will keep singing until we master it. Next week we will be learning about 'half'.
In PE the children worked on their tennis skills which was lots of fun.
Enjoy the sunshine!
Mrs Sheehan
