Hello all,

What a busy week we have had in foundation. The children have settled so well and are beginning to relax into their learning.  We  have enjoyed the outdoor area as we continue to have the warm sun. The class played a variety of balancing games during PE lesson and the children have enjoyed singing and dancing with Mrs Lawrence during the whole school singing assembly and the music lesson.. We are really pleased with the way the children are engaging with each other and all the activities. They are confident in asking us for help and also if they are a little unsettled they are comfortable connecting to a familiar adult for support.

Phonics

This week we have begun learning phonics . The children were introduced to the letter sounds: s, a, t, p. We have been identifying initial sounds in words and have practised oral blending.

Maths

In Maths we focused on counting objects with one to one correspondence and we looked at numbers in our environment.

Learning journals

We sent home the children's learning journals  this week  so that you can see who their key person is. We will now start to use these books to observe and support the children with their development throughout the year. You can look at these books at any point, they are located just in the doorway of the unit. If you have not already done so can you please fill in the parent section and return the book  so that we can start to use the books in the setting.

A FEW REMINDERS

  1. PLEASE CAN ALL CHILDREN'S UNIFORM HAVE THEIR NAMES ON.
  2. THE CHILDREN DONT NEED BAGS UNLESS THEY HAVE NAPPIES. IT MAKES THE SPACE VERY SMALL IF ALL THE CHILDREN BRING BIG BAGS INTO THE SETTING.
  3. PLEASE CAN YOU NOT LET YOUR CHILDREN BRING IN TOYS AS THEY OFTEN GET LOST AND RESTRICT YOUR CHILD FROM ENGAGING WITH OUR RESOURCES.

 Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all. The children are happy to be back and have settled well into their routines. This term we have decided to hold some child initiated stay and play sessions every Tuesday morning starting next week. This will be an opportunity for you to stay and play with your child in the foundation environment, seeing and learning what they do on a daily basis. We are hoping this will help  to improve

  Hello all,  It was lovely to welcome the new Reception class this week. We were very impressed with how calm and engaged in play the children were on their first week of school. The children are slowly becoming familiar with the new routines and new friendships are being established. We have enjoyed singing and story time together. The class took part in PE sessions with Mr Mills and the music lesson with Mrs Lawrence which were lots of fun.  Each week Reception class will take part in three PE sessions  ( Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) and on Fridays the children will be joining the whole school for the music assembly and will have a music lesson.  Next week Reception class will start Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics programme and will take part in daily maths sessions.  Please remember to bring named welly boots next week if you haven't done it yet.
