Hello all,
Reception Class Blog – A Week Full of Fun and Learning!
What an exciting week we’ve had in Reception!
On our school trip to Willows Farm, the children had a fantastic day filled with hands-on experiences and memorable moments. From meeting the animals to exploring the farm activities, everyone had a brilliant time. It was lovely to see the children enjoying the outdoors, learning through play, and spending time with their school friends in a different setting. A huge thank you to our wonderful parent helpers—we couldn’t have done it without you!
Back in the classroom, our learning continued to leap forward—quite literally! As part of our topic on the life cycle of a frog, Louie kindly brought in some real tadpoles for us to observe. The children were absolutely fascinated! They’ve been making careful observations, asking brilliant questions, and enthusiastically discussing what they notice. We’ve seen lots of thoughtful drawings and some fantastic writing as the children record their frog facts and keep track of the changes they observe.
Maths
In maths we focused on counting beyond 20. We played games and hands on activities to develop an understanding of numerical patterns.
Phonics
This week our focus was on writing and we have revisited the previous learning. I have place the sheet with new tricky words in the reading folders. Please practise reading the words at home.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs Sheehan
