Hello all,

This week we began to look at the artwork by Stephen Wiltshire. This is something we will be continuing into next week. The children are going to reproduce some art in the style of Stephen and also learn about his life. On Friday we talked about Remembrance Day. We listened to a story called "Poppy's Day" on CBeebies. This is a child friendly story all about remembering. The children were excellent at understanding elements of this story, and it was a good example of how we should remember others. We have marked Remembrance Day with a minute of silence. We closed our eyes and thought of people who keep us safe. The children made their own poppies using paper, scissors, glue and tape.

Next week we will be learning about pets and how to look after them. If your child has a pet at home, please bring a picture to school.

Phonics

In phonics the children were introduced to the letter sounds: v, w, x, y.

If you have not received the sheet with the new phonic sounds for this half term, please let me know.

Maths

In maths our focus was subitising. We used dominoes and a dice to help us learn number patterns and recognise quantities by sight.
