Hello all,
Following the children's interests, this week, we have been learning about volcanoes and we have carried out a volcano eruption experiment. We have found interesting facts about volcanoes in information books and on the internet. The children role played volcano scenarios when involved in small world play.
Next week, together with the children, we will be preparing the classroom for winter season. We will create winter areas where the children can learn about the changes in the environment. We have started practising Christmas songs and we can all feel that the Christmas season if fast approaching.
Phonics
In phonics the children have been introduced to digraphs: sh, th, ng, nk. Please practise the digraphs at home with the corresponding catchphrases:
sh- Share the shells.
th- Thumbs up, we're having fun.
ng- Bling on a ring.
nk- I think I am pink.
Maths
In maths we have focused o number bonds to 5. Using tens frame and counters, we looked at different ways of making 5. Next week, we will continue learning number bonds using cherry models.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs Sheehan
