We could not believe it when we came to school on Tuesday and discovered that all the pegs had vanished from the wall and all the chairs were missing. We had to call the police! Luckily, they came and helped us look for clues to solve the mystery. We found colourful bird feathers, food wrappers, shiny objects, cups and balloons on the pirate ship outside. We came to the conclusion that the pirates had held a party on the ship and, because it was a stormy night, they had hidden in the outdoor classroom and perhaps played musical chairs. Mr Mills later read the poster about the missing chairs and found them there! The children wrote letters, counted the missing chairs and predicted which items would fit through a small window. There was lots of excitement and many amazing ideas shared throughout the week. Storytelling and imaginative play are a vital part of learning in the Early Years. Through engaging mysteries and exciting adventures, children develop their communication and language ...

Sports Day Fun  What a joyful week it has been in EYFS! the weather was perfect for our Sports Day and it was a fantastic success. The children showed amazing energy, teamwork, and determination throughout all the events. We were so pleased with their enthusiasm and perseverance, and it was lovely to see so many smiles and cheers from everyone involved. A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who came along to support – your encouragement meant the world! We can’t believe how quickly our caterpillars are growing! They have changed so much since they first arrived, and it has been exciting to watch them develop each day. On Friday, we noticed that one of our caterpillars had started to build its chrysalis. We can’t wait to see what happens over the weekend and are looking forward to observing the next stage of their amazing life cycle when we return. Maths In maths we were exploring the concept of grouping and sharing into equal quantities. Phonics In phonics we practis...

What an exciting day we have had in Reception! Today, the children performed their very first school assembly, and what a fantastic job they did. They made themselves proud, they made us proud, and we are sure they made all of you proud too. The children showed confidence, enthusiasm, and teamwork as they shared their learning with the school community. They remembered their lines, sang beautifully, and spoke so clearly. It was wonderful to see how much they have grown since starting school. Well done, Reception – you were stars! This week, we started learning about the life cycle of a butterfly. The children have been fascinated to discover how a tiny egg grows into a caterpillar, then forms a chrysalis before finally emerging as a beautiful butterfly. We are very excited because we have some baby caterpillars in our classroom! Over the coming weeks, we will carefully observe them and watch the amazing transformation as they grow and eventually turn into butterflies. The children...

Looking After Our Teeth

Hello all, This week in Reception, we have been learning all about looking after our teeth and why dental hygiene is so important. We enjoyed reading books related to our topic, which helped us learn about keeping our teeth healthy and visiting the dentist. The children loved discussing the stories and sharing their own experiences of brushing their teeth. We also had the opportunity to explore different pieces of dental equipment. The children were fascinated to see the tools that dentists use and talked about how they help to keep our teeth clean and healthy. Throughout the week, we discussed the importance of brushing our teeth twice a day, eating healthy foods, and visiting the dentist regularly. Some of the children were excited to tell us that they have already lost some of their milk teeth and have even had a visit from the Tooth Fairy! Phonics In phonics we worked on consolidating tricky words and on reading longer words. This week, I have sent home a letter formation prac...
