What an Amazing Week in the Pool!

Hello all,

What an amazing week we’ve had – our very first swimming sessions have begun, and what a splash the children made!

The excitement was contagious as each child had their first opportunity to experience the swimming pool. It was such a joy to see their faces light up with confidence and enthusiasm as they took to the water. 

We were incredibly proud of how brave and adventurous they were. Whether it was getting used to the water, floating with support, or just having fun with their friends, every child gave it their best – and it showed!

These swimming lessons will continue over the next three weeks, and we’re so excited to see how the children progress and grow even more confident in the water.

Just a gentle reminder: please remember to send your child’s swimming clothes in every day so they’re ready to jump in and enjoy their sessions.

 Maths

In maths we have been learning learning to make numbers beyond ten. We especially focused on numbers 11,12 and 13.

10 and 1 makes 11, 

10 and 2 makes 12

10 and 3 makes 13. Please use small objects such as stones, pencils, coins to help your child to make these quantities.

Phonics

This week in phonics we practised reading CVCC words with a short vowel sound. Our trick words were: said, so,

Quiz Night Saturday 9th May
Get your thinking caps ready for our PTA Quiz Night on Saturday 9th May 2026! It promises to be a fantastic evening of fun, laughter and a little bit of healthy rivalry. It would be brilliant to see as many of you there as possible—whether you're in it to win it or just in it for the laughs!

 Hello all,  It was lovely to welcome the new Reception class this week. We were very impressed with how calm and engaged in play the children were on their first days of school. The children are slowly becoming familiar with the new routines and new friendships are being established. We have enjoyed singing and story time together. The class took part in PE sessions with Mr Mills and the music lesson with Mrs Lawrence which were lots of fun.  Each week Reception class will take part in three PE sessions  ( Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) and on Tuesdays the children will be joining the whole school for the music assembly and will have a music lesson.  Next week Reception class will start Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics programme and will take part in daily maths sessions.  Please remember to bring named welly boots next week if you haven't done it yet.  Have a lovely weekend! Hello all, Reception Class Blog – A Week Full of Fun and Learning! What an exciting week we’ve had in Reception! On our school trip to Willows Farm , the children had a fantastic day filled with hands-on experiences and memorable moments. From meeting the animals to exploring the farm activities, everyone had a brilliant time. It was lovely to see the children enjoying the outdoors, learning through play, and spending time with their school friends in a different setting. A huge thank you to our wonderful parent helpers —we couldn’t have done it without you! Back in the classroom, our learning continued to leap forward—quite literally!   Celebrating Diwali in Reception! 🌟 This week, we had a wonderful time celebrating Diwali , the Hindu Festival of Lights! The classroom was full of colour, music, and happy smiles as the children explored a range of fun activities linked to this special festival. We began by creating beautiful Rangoli patterns , using bright colours and shapes to decorate our classroom. The children showed fantastic creativity and care in their designs! We also made some Diwali playdough sweets , rolling, shaping and decorating them just like real festive treats. Later, we lit up our divas and listened to peaceful Hindu flute music , helping us to think about light, kindness and new beginnings. The children loved dressing up in colourful saris and dancing to Diwali music — it was such a joyful celebration!
