Hello all

This week in Reception has been full of exciting learning and celebrations!

We had a very busy week, starting with our Earth Day. The children explored a globe and talked about our planet, discussing simple but important ways each of us can help to look after it. We also enjoyed reading a book about recycling, which helped us understand how we can reduce waste and care for the environment in our everyday lives.

Later in the week, we learned about St George’s Day and explored some English traditions. The children were curious and engaged, asking thoughtful questions and sharing their own ideas.

One of the highlights of the week was our Flamenco workshop. The children had so much fun taking part, and it was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and confidence shine through. We certainly have some amazing dancers in our class!

Phonics

In phonics our focus was on segmenting words into sounds for writing. The children were introduced to the following tricky words: some, so, have, like.

Maths

In Maths we were learning about numbers 10-20. We added single digit numbers to 10 to make numerals beyond 10 e.g.  10 and 5 makes 15; 10 and 8 makes 18 etc. Encourage children to notice numerals and quantities up to 20 at home and outdoor environment.

Have a great weekend!
