This week in Reception, we had a very exciting and unusual visitor to our classroom! Mr Berridge kindly brought in some frogspawn from his pond, giving us a wonderful opportunity to observe the life cycle of a frog up close.

The children were immediately fascinated and full of curiosity. We spent time carefully looking at the frogspawn, talking about what it might grow into and discussing what frogs need to live and grow. The children asked thoughtful questions and shared their ideas, showing great enthusiasm for learning.

We also had another exciting experience in our outdoor area this week. Mrs Robinson used her creative skills to construct a fantastic ship using recycled materials. The children watched the building process and were able to see first-hand what can be achieved with imagination, creativity, and practical skills. It was inspiring for them to see how everyday materials can be transformed into something so engaging and fun.

This experience has sparked lots of discussions, drawings, and creative activities in the classroom. It has been a fantastic way to develop our understanding of the natural world while encouraging curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning.

Phonics

In phonics we practised reading longer words ending with -ing ( looking, cooking, mixing) and -es        (wishes. foxes, boxes, etc.). We also revisited Phase 2 and Phase 3 tricky words.

Maths

In maths we focused on learning number bonds to 5 through a variety of games.
Have a great weekend!
Mrs Sheehan
