This week in Foundation we have been busy making some exciting changes to our learning environment, all inspired by the children’s interests and ideas. The children have loved seeing their classroom transform and have been incredibly involved every step of the way. One of our favourite new additions is the  indoor sandpit . This has already provided lots of opportunities for sensory play, exploration and imaginative thinking. The children were very keen to help set this up, carefully collecting sand and helping to sweep up afterwards. It was lovely to see such teamwork and responsibility in action. We have also created a  creative ‘magic story writing tree’ area , which has sparked lots of storytelling, mark-making and imaginative play. The children have enjoyed sharing ideas, creating characters and using the space to bring their stories to life in a calm and inviting environment. Following the children’s role-play interests, we have added a  house area  and ...

Hello all,   Early Years Update: Great British Bird Watch This week, the children have been immersed in the exciting activity of the Great British Bird Watch. We We quietly observed several birds, including blackbirds, pigeons, parakeets and a coal tit. The children were excited to see the birds landing in the garden and flying in the trees. We enjoyed learning about the birds we see around us. The children recorded their observations through drawings and notes, building early skills in data collection and observation. Our focus stories were The Dawn Choir and  The Owl Babies. We used the props to act out the owl story. Next week, we will continue our birdwatching journey and encourage the children to see if they can identify any new bird species. We will also explore bird habitats and diets further, linking our observations to stories and songs. Phonics In phonics the children were introduced to the following letter sounds: or. ur, ow. Tricky words: my, by. Maths This ...

Hello all, This week in Reception, we have been busy exploring nursery rhymes, and it has been a joy to see how much the children have enjoyed them! We focused on listening carefully to the rhymes and spotting rhyming words , such as words that sound the same at the end. The children did a fantastic job joining in, clapping along, and identifying which words rhyme. This helped to develop their early phonics skills in a fun and engaging way. We also spent time building new vocabulary , talking about the meaning of words found in familiar nursery rhymes. The children shared their ideas confidently and used new words during discussions and play. One of the highlights of the week was giving the children the opportunity to sing nursery rhymes in front of the class . This helped to build confidence, speaking skills, and self-esteem. Everyone was incredibly supportive, and it was lovely to see the children cheering each other on. Well done, Reception, for your enthusiasm and bravery. We a...

❄️ Learning About Snow and Ice ❄️ This week in Reception we have been learning all about snow and ice , exploring what happens when the weather gets cold and how water can change. We talked together about snow , when we see it, and how it feels. The children shared their ideas and experiences, using lovely descriptive words such as cold , wet , slippery and sparkly . We looked at pictures of snowy weather and discussed how people and animals might keep warm. The children then enjoyed experimenting with ice . They touched the ice and noticed how cold and hard it felt at first. As time passed, they observed how the ice began to melt , turning back into water. The children were fascinated to see this change and made great predictions about what they thought would happen. During outdoor learning, we went on an ice hunt in the garden . The children were excited to discover real ice that had formed overnight. We found ice in the tyres, plant pots and on the bricks . The children c...
