Environment changes

This week in Foundation we have been busy making some exciting changes to our learning environment, all inspired by the children’s interests and ideas. The children have loved seeing their classroom transform and have been incredibly involved every step of the way.

One of our favourite new additions is the indoor sandpit. This has already provided lots of opportunities for sensory play, exploration and imaginative thinking. The children were very keen to help set this up, carefully collecting sand and helping to sweep up afterwards. It was lovely to see such teamwork and responsibility in action.

We have also created a creative ‘magic story writing tree’ area, which has sparked lots of storytelling, mark-making and imaginative play. The children have enjoyed sharing ideas, creating characters and using the space to bring their stories to life in a calm and inviting environment.

Following the children’s role-play interests, we have added a house area and a shoe shop. These spaces have already encouraged rich conversations, cooperation and imaginative scenarios. The children proudly helped to move furniture, tidy the space and decide where everything should go, showing great ownership of their learning environment.

Throughout the week, the children demonstrated fantastic independence, collaboration and care for their classroom. By involving them in creating these new areas, we are supporting their sense of belonging and ensuring the environment truly reflects their interests and ideas.

We are looking forward to seeing how these new spaces continue to inspire learning, creativity and play over the coming weeks.

Maths

In maths this week we focused on numbers 6,7,8. We made the representations of these numbers and looked for numbers that are one more from the given number.

Phonics

In phonics the children were introduced to the following letter sound: oi, ear, air, er. Our tricky words : you, they, are.

Have a lovely weekend!
