Hello all,

Early Years Update: Great British Bird Watch

This week, the children have been immersed in the exciting activity of the Great British Bird Watch. We We quietly observed several birds, including blackbirds, pigeons, parakeets and a coal tit.

The children were excited to see the birds landing in the garden and flying in the trees. We enjoyed learning about the birds we see around us. The children recorded their observations through drawings and notes, building early skills in data collection and observation. Our focus stories were The Dawn Choir and The Owl Babies. We used the props to act out the owl story.

Next week, we will continue our birdwatching journey and encourage the children to see if they can identify any new bird species. We will also explore bird habitats and diets further, linking our observations to stories and songs.

Phonics

In phonics the children were introduced to the following letter sounds: or. ur, ow. Tricky words: my, by.

Maths

This week in maths we explored mass and capacity. The children used the balance scales to find the corresponding mass of objects.

Have a great weekend!
