Hello all,

This week was the children's mental health week. We have been singing 'The more we get together' song with Makaton signs. We read and discussed books about our emotions.

As it was also the Safe Internet Week, we have discussed how to be safe when using online devices. It was clear that the children had a good understanding about certain things that they can do and also what they should do if they see anything that scares or upsets them when they are using electronic devices. We watched a short video which demonstrated what they should do if they press the wrong buttons. All the children know that they must inform an adult if they feel uncomfortable or see something that scares them when they are online.

In Phonics the children have been introduced to the letter sounds: ow and oi and have been singing The alphabet song.

After the half term we will spend a week on using our phonics knowledge in writing. We are going to create a new office role play area for the children. This will make writing more meaningful and exciting for them.

In Maths we have been looking at 3D shapes in our environment and the children were able to give lots of examples of objects with a given shape.

After half term we will focus on number bonds.

 Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen. We have seen lots of amazing pies and beautifully decorated cakes.  The children also loved doing a puppet show. They used puppets and dressed up to perform for their friends.  Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all. The children are happy to be back and have settled well into their routines. This term we have decided to hold some child initiated stay and play sessions every Tuesday morning starting next week.  Hello all, We have a had a very Chinese week in the unit with lots of exciting activities relating to the Chinese New Year. The children have made Chinese dragons, prepared and eaten noodles using chop sticks, looked at China on our map and learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story. It has been a very busy week. The children have also tried to do some Chinese writing which was fantastic. We always enjoy this festival as it really captivates their interest  especially as we are looking at other countries each day on our map. On Tuesday, Reception class went for their first school trip to The Snow Centre. The children were very excited going on a coach as for most of them it was the first time having that experience. I'm glad all the children found the courage to go down the slope. The children were amazing and the staff from the centre commented on our children's excellent behaviour.
