Hello all.
This week, we have been learning about volcanoes and we have carried out a volcano eruption experiment. We have found interesting facts about volcanoes in information books and on the internet. The children role played volcano scenarios when involved in small world play.
Next week, together with the children, we will be preparing the classroom for winter season. We will create winter areas where the children can learn about the changes in the environment. We have started practising Christmas songs and we can all feel that the Christmas season if fast approaching.
We have started practicing our songs for the Christmas concert. The children are very enthusiastic and I am sure they will have been singing the songs at home. They are looking forward to performing for you on the 17th and 18th of December. Please can you dress your child in Christmas clothes on Monday 16th, Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th December as we will be performing the concert for the school on the Monday. This can comprise of any Christmas festive clothes that you have at home. Please do not go out and buy new clothes for this. Red, green and/or white will do.
We do one performance in the morning and one in the afternoon to allow families who need the flexibility to attend. We will provide more information about tickets next week.
Phonics
In phonics the children were introduced to the following letter sounds: z, qu,ch and the tricky words: go, no, to.
Maths
In maths this week, we learnt about circles and triangles. We described the properties of these shapes and we looked for them in the environment. Perhaps the children can look for circular and triangular shaped objects at home or when out and about. We also played a preposition game with shapes.
