Hello all,

 This week in Reception, we have been diving into the wonderful season of autumn and learning all about the harvest time! The children have been exploring the changes in nature, from the colourful leaves to the abundance of fruits and vegetables that grow at this special time of year. It’s been fantastic to see their curiosity as they discover why autumn is such an important season.

We have also started practising some lovely songs for our upcoming Harvest Festival. The children are excited to perform and celebrate with you. We’re looking forward to welcoming you next Friday for our celebration. Please, do not worry if you can't make it. 

If you’re planning to go for a walk this weekend, please encourage your child to collect some natural treasures like conkers, acorns, or autumn leaves. These natural resources are brilliant for hands-on learning and will help us create some beautiful autumn displays in the classroom.

Phonics 

In phonics the children have been introduced to the letter sounds: i, n, m, d. Please revisit these sounds at home during the weekend using the Phonics sheet. We greatly appreciate your support.

Please, use the link below to access Little Wandle's section for parents. The children are currently working on recognising Phase 2 sounds Autumn one. The video on the website will help the children to develop the fluency and accuracy in naming the letter sounds.

The children also took home a library book to share with you. Please return the folder with the library book on Monday. Please keep the sheets with the letter sounds at home.

Maths

Our Maths topic is : Match, sort and compare. The natural resources will be fantastic for exploring the mathematical concepts further.

  Hello all, This week was all about spiders. We red information books to fid our amazing facts about spiders e.g. Spiders have oily legs so they don't stick to their webs. Water spiders live in webs full of water. When we came to school on Friday, we couldn't believe our eyes. There were spiders webs everywhere!!! We had a walk around the school grounds and we found lots beautifully crafted webs.  Our focus story this week was The very busy spider by Eric Carl. Mental Health Week

 Our focus this week has been children's  mental health, we created lots of activities to support the children with their understanding of emotions. The children have a good understanding of what emotions are and we have spent time learning strategies to help us understand that all emotions are important and play a role in who we are. The children had a good understanding of  how they feel and they were all able to say that its good to talk about their feelings. We created some crazy hair photos which the children enjoyed making, they added words that expressed how they feel which was very enlightening. We  told stories and  made our own to demonstrate different ways to deal with different emotions.  Hello all,  It was lovely to welcome the new Reception class this week. We were very impressed with how calm and engaged in play the children were on their first days of school. The children are slowly becoming familiar with the new routines and new friendships are being established. We have enjoyed singing and story time together. The class took part in PE sessions with Mr Mills and the music lesson with Mrs Lawrence which were lots of fun.  Each week Reception class will take part in three PE sessions  ( Monday, Wednesday, Thursday) and on Tuesdays the children will be joining the whole school for the music assembly and will have a music lesson.  Next week Reception class will start Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics programme and will take part in daily maths sessions.  Please remember to bring named welly boots next week if you haven't done it yet.  Have a lovely weekend!
