Hello all,

This week in Reception, we’ve been learning all about looking after pets and how to be kind and caring animal friends. We are so excited to share that we set up a brand-new role play area called Little Heath Vet — and it’s been buzzing with activity!

The children have been using their imagination to become vets, nurses, and pet owners, helping all kinds of animals feel better. It’s wonderful to see them taking turns, showing kindness, and thinking about what pets need to stay happy and healthy. From bandaging pretend paws to giving cuddles and check-ups, the vet surgery has been a busy, joyful place full of caring children.

On Friday, we had a very exciting visitor – Clara’s mum came in to talk to us about her amazing trip to South Africa! She recently travelled there with a group of vets to help put trackers on rhinos. These special trackers help keep the rhinos safe and protect them from harm, which is so important for these beautiful animals.

Clara’s mum showed us lots of incredible photos from her trip. We saw rhinos, elephants, zebras and even some cheeky monkeys! The children were fascinated and asked lots of brilliant questions.

Thank you so much to Clara’s mum for sharing her adventure with us !

Another very special moment this week was when Louie brought in a beautiful butterfly that he had raised at home from an egg! After learning about its journey and how important it is to let animals live freely, we carefully released the butterfly outside, back into nature where it belongs. It was a magical experience for everyone.
