Hello everyone, This week in Foundation, we have been diving into the wonderful world of Superworm by Julia Donaldson! The children absolutely loved exploring the many incredible ways that Superworm could transform himself—into a hat, a fairground ride, a lasso, and so much more! Their imaginations ran wild as they came up with their own creative ideas for Superworm’s next adventure. Our hands-on activities were just as exciting! The children had a fantastic time rolling out playdough to create their own super-long worms. They eagerly compared lengths, discussing which worms were the longest, shortest, or just right! It was a great opportunity to build their understanding of measurement and comparison in a fun and engaging way. The rainy weather this week turned out to be a wonderful bonus. The children put on their wellies and ventured into the garden, where they were thrilled to discover real worms wriggling in the soil! They carefully observed their movements, counted them, a...

Hello all,   Early Years Update: Great British Bird Watch This week, the children have been immersed in the exciting activity of the Great British Bird Watch. As part of this, they participated in making bird feeders, which not only supported their fine motor skills but also provided an opportunity to learn about how we can help care for wildlife during the colder months. The children were thrilled to use their handcrafted binoculars to observe the birds visiting our outdoor area. We  spotted several robins, with their bright red chests providing a beautiful splash of colour amidst the winter scenery. We found that blackbirds like to visit our playground after lunch time hoping to find some delicious crumbs. The children recorded their observations through drawings and notes, building early skills in data collection and observation. Our focus story this week was The Owl Babies. We used the props to act out the story. Next week, we will continue our birdwatching journey and enc...

Hello all, This week in Reception we have carried out a variety of experiments. We made tests with melting ice and freezing water. We experimented with colour mixing using food colouring and skittles. The children were exited to see the result of the experiment and were very tempted to taste the skittles.  As one of our new letter sound was 'ao' which has a catchphrase: soap that goat, and the picture shows a goat having a bubble bath, we have decided to investigate how to make the best bubbles. The children thought of the following techniques: blowing air into soapy water, mixing it, whisking it, transferring the mixture into different containers. We used a hand whisk and an electric mixer and we have discovered that the electric mixer made the best bubbles. We also launched a rocket into Space which was super exciting!  We know, that all of it was done not by magic but by scientific discoveries. We are all inspired by our latest science experiences and and we are keen ...

Hello all, Welcome back. It was so lovely to see the children this week full of enthusiasm and happy to be back. They have settled straight into their learning and have spent lots of time using construction resources.  As the weather turned cold, we have decided to learn about temperature and its effects on us and the environment. We have placed coloured water in the balloons and we left them outside for the weekend. The children came up with different predictions of what will happen to the balloons: They will fly to the sky. They will pop. The fox will eat them. They will freeze. We will certainly check on Monday morning. Next week we will carry out a number of experiments related to changes in temperature.  Phonics This week we have begun learning Phase 3 letter sounds. The children were introduced to the letter sounds: ai, ee.  Please revise the sounds at home so that the reading process becomes more fluent for your child. If your child has not secured some of th...
