Hello all,

This week we had a Fire drill at school and this experience lead us to learning about fire safety and about work Firefighters do to keep us safe. We used factual books and watched videos to learn about this topic. The children have good understanding of how to behave during a fire drill. They know to leave what they do and calmly line up with a teacher to walk towards the fire assembly point. We will try to arrange for our local fire brigade to visit us to make the learning exciting and more meaningful to the children. 

Christmas concert

The children are looking forward to performing for you on the 17th and 18th of December. Please can you dress your child in Christmas clothes on Monday 16th, Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th December as we will be performing the concert for the school on the Monday. This can comprise of any Christmas festive clothes that you have at home. Please do not go out and buy new clothes for this. Red, green and/or white will do.

Phonics

This week in phonics the children were introduced to the following letter sounds: sh, th, ng, nk.

Our tricky words were: into, she, he and of. Please. keep practising the Autumn 2 letter sounds at home. Thank you for your support.

Maths

In maths we focused on the composition of numbers 4 and 5. Next week we will be learning about shapes with four sides.

 Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen. We have seen lots of amazing pies and beautifully decorated cakes.  The children also loved doing a puppet show. They used puppets and dressed up to perform for their friends.  Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all.  Hello all, We have a had a very Chinese week in the unit with lots of exciting activities relating to the Chinese New Year. The children have made Chinese dragons, prepared and eaten noodles using chop sticks, looked at China on our map and learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story. It has been a very busy week. The children have also tried to do some Chinese writing which was fantastic. We always enjoy this festival as it really captivates their interest  especially as we are looking at other countries each day on our map. On Tuesday, Reception class went for their first school trip to The Snow Centre. The children were very excited going on a coach as for most of them it was the first time having that experience. I'm glad all the children found the courage to go down the slope. The children were amazing and the staff from the centre commented on our children's excellent behaviour.
