Hello all,

Well done to all our fantastic Reception class children for performing beautifully their very first assembly for their families and the whole school. They performed with joy and confidence. We are very proud of them!

I'm sure you have noticed we have some new equipment in our outdoor area. The children use the wooden planks, logs and crates to create an obstacle course. This gives them an opportunity to work as a part of the team, to communicate with each other, to solve problems, to take risk and to be creative. Amazing learning while having fun!

Maths

In maths we continued with building patterns and replicating pictures. We looked for what is the same and what is different while comparing two images.

PE

In PE the children worked on bouncing and passing a ball. They also took part in running races and discussed the effects of physical exercise on their bodies.

 Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once.  Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen. We have seen lots of amazing pies and beautifully decorated cakes.  The children also loved doing a puppet show. They used puppets and dressed up to perform for their friends. Following the children's interest, next week, we will create our own puppets. Phonics  In phonics the children have been introduced to the letter sounds: i, n, m, d.   Hello all, Christmas has arrived in foundation and this week we have created a Christmas card factory. The children have enjoyed writing cards, putting them in envelopes and posting them in our post box. We have learnt about the Christmas nativity story and have continued to practice our songs for the show. The children are looking forward to performing for you but please do not be surprised if your child doesn't sing or gets upset if they see you, this is completely normal, and we will make sure that they are ok. It can be a little overwhelming to be in the hall with lots of adults. Hopefully they will all be ok. We have been looking at shapes this week and the children have enjoyed using geometric shapes with the play dough. The teachers supported the children with learning the names of the shapes.  We decided to collect some natural resources, we put them in water to see if they would freeze outside during the night. The photographs show the results. The children were amazed.
