Hello all,

This week the children have been investigating some bones and an egg that we have found outside in our garden. We have put the egg in a box so that we can observe it hatching. We are not sure what is inside so we brought some books from the library to research what could be inside and based on it we have made our perditions. Amongst other ideas we had a peacock, a lizard, an ostrich, a chick, a dinosaur. We are excited to see what will happen next!

In Maths we have been exploring the concepts of sharing and grouping. We have been investigating if even /odd quantities can be shared fairly. 

Thursday is our Sports Day. The children will be in groups with their siblings and other children throughout the school. When you arrive, you will be able to join your child's group as they do activities. Each group has a member of staff with them so please be reassured that your child will be ok. We will congregate on the school field so find your child and join in. We are hoping for nice weather so fingers crossed. The children can come to school wearing their own sports clothes.

Reminder

Please, make sure that your child is wearing the correct school uniform to school. We have noticed some children wearing trainers instead of school shoes. Also, school socks should be plain grey or white.

 Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all.   Hello all, Christmas has arrived in foundation and this week we have created a Christmas card factory. The children have enjoyed writing cards, putting them in envelopes and posting them in our post box. We have learnt about the Christmas nativity story and have continued to practice our songs for the show. The children are looking forward to performing for you but please do not be surprised if your child doesn't sing or gets upset if they see you, this is completely normal, and we will make sure that they are ok. It can be a little overwhelming to be in the hall with lots of adults. Hopefully they will all be ok. We have been looking at shapes this week and the children have enjoyed using geometric shapes with the play dough. The teachers supported the children with learning the names of the shapes.  We decided to collect some natural resources, we put them in water to see if they would freeze outside during the night. The photographs show the results. The children were amazed.

 Hello all, What an amazing week we have had starting with the performance. The children did so well! The children have been engrossed in lots of creative Christmas activities. It has been like Santa's workshop. The children have enjoyed the different activities on offer and are clearly in a festive spirit. Only 3 school days left before we break for the holidays. We are all looking forward to a break and we hope that some of the awful bugs will disappear. On Monday the children will be having their Christmas party in the afternoon. I am aware your children will want to be here but please do not send them if they are ill. Please remember to collect your child at 2 o'clock on 20th December. Have a lovely weekend!
