Hello all,

This week we have been practicing our songs for the Christmas concert. The children are very enthusiastic, and I am sure they will have been singing the songs at home. They are looking forward to performing for you on the 13th and 14th of December. Please can you dress your child in Christmas clothes on Monday 12th, Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th December as we will be performing the concert for the school on the Monday. This can comprise of any Christmas festive clothes that you already have at home.

We now have a post box in the setting so the children can bring Christmas cards in if they wish. I have provided a list of the children names for Nursery and Reception. 

Phonics

In phonics this week we practised reading words and short sentences with the letter sounds we have learnt so far. Our main focus was on recognising digraphs: th, sh, ch, ng, nk.

Our tricky words are: he, she, me, we, be.

Maths

In maths we used cherry models to show different ways of making 5.

Next week we will introduce Numicon and the children will learn how each number is represented.

 Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen. We have seen lots of amazing pies and beautifully decorated cakes.  The children also loved doing a puppet show. They used puppets and dressed up to perform for their friends.  Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all.  Hello all, We have a had a very Chinese week in the unit with lots of exciting activities relating to the Chinese New Year. The children have made Chinese dragons, prepared and eaten noodles using chop sticks, looked at China on our map and learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story. It has been a very busy week. The children have also tried to do some Chinese writing which was fantastic. We always enjoy this festival as it really captivates their interest  especially as we are looking at other countries each day on our map. On Tuesday, Reception class went for their first school trip to The Snow Centre. The children were very excited going on a coach as for most of them it was the first time having that experience. I'm glad all the children found the courage to go down the slope. The children were amazing and the staff from the centre commented on our children's excellent behaviour.
