Hello all,

This week we have been celebrating Chinese New Year in Reception. Our focus was 'The great race' story which explains the order of zodiac signs in Chinse calendar. We have been learning about traditions of the Chinese New Year and the children absolutely loved performing the dragon dance.

Next week is Children's mental health week so the activities will be focused on wellbeing.

On Tuesday is Safer Internet day and we will be promoting the safe and positive use of digital technology for children.

 Phonics

This week the children have been introduced to the letter sounds: ar, or, ur. 

Next week we will focus on the trick words and learn the sounds: ow and oi.

Maths

This week we continued learning about 2D shapes, next week we will be naming and describing 3D shapes.

In PE the children practised throwing and catching a ball and played aiming games.

 Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen. We have seen lots of amazing pies and beautifully decorated cakes.  The children also loved doing a puppet show. They used puppets and dressed up to perform for their friends.  Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all.  Hello all, We have a had a very Chinese week in the unit with lots of exciting activities relating to the Chinese New Year. The children have made Chinese dragons, prepared and eaten noodles using chop sticks, looked at China on our map and learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story. It has been a very busy week. The children have also tried to do some Chinese writing which was fantastic. We always enjoy this festival as it really captivates their interest  especially as we are looking at other countries each day on our map. On Tuesday, Reception class went for their first school trip to The Snow Centre. The children were very excited going on a coach as for most of them it was the first time having that experience. I'm glad all the children found the courage to go down the slope. The children were amazing and the staff from the centre commented on our children's excellent behaviour.
