Volcanoes

  This week the children have been learning about volcanoes and have done lots of activities around this topic. Throughout the week the children  made a large volcano and on Friday we watched it erupt using  a science experience. I have attached a video for you to see the explosion.

Christmas has officially arrived in Foundation as we have been learning  songs for our performance. The children are very enthusiastic and are very excited about a Hippopotamus that may be visiting us.

We will be continuing with our rehearsals over the next few weeks so I am sure you will all know the songs by the time they get to perform for you. We will be giving out more details of the concert nearer the time as consideration will be taken in relation to Covid at that time.

Next week we will be spending time in our outside classroom. We will be lighting our fire pit and cooking some food on it. The children will be looking at habitats of bugs that are around at this time of year.

 Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all. The children are happy to be back and have settled well into their routines. This term we have decided to hold some child initiated stay and play sessions every Tuesday morning starting next week.   Hello all,  It was lovely to welcome the new Reception class this week. We were very impressed with how calm and engaged in play the children were on their first week of school. The children are slowly becoming familiar with the new routines and new friendships are being established. We have enjoyed singing and story time together. The class took part in PE sessions with Mr Mills and the music lesson with Mrs Lawrence which were lots of fun.  Each week Reception class will take part in three PE sessions  ( Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) and on Fridays the children will be joining the whole school for the music assembly and will have a music lesson.  Next week Reception class will start Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics programme and will take part in daily maths sessions.  Please remember to bring named welly boots next week if you haven't done it yet. Hello all, What a busy week we have had in foundation. The children have settled so well and are beginning to relax into their learning.  We  have enjoyed the outdoor area as we continue to have the warm sun. The class played a variety of balancing games during PE lesson and the children have enjoyed singing and dancing with Mrs Lawrence during the whole school singing assembly and the music lesson.. We are really pleased with the way the children are engaging with each other and all the activities. They are confident in asking us for help and also if they are a little unsettled they are comfortable connecting to a familiar adult for support. Phonics This week we have begun learning phonics . The children were introduced to the letter sounds: s, a, t, p. We have been identifying initial sounds in words and have practised oral blending. Maths In Maths we focused on counting objects with one to one correspondence and we looked at numbers in our environment. Learning journals We sent home
