 Hello all,

As we have quite a few children in our class showing an interest in Space, we have created a spaceship in our classroom. The children are very keen on role plying imaginary flights into Space. We are going to continue learning about Space over the next few weeks so if you have anything interesting at home that can support this topic please send it in.

A new aspect to the revised EYFS is to support children with dental hygiene. This week Mia's mummy, who is a dental nurse came to talk to the children about their teeth. Mia was able to tell her friends about good dental hygiene and we would like to thank her mummy for spending the time with us. 

On Thursday we had a minutes silence to remember people who help us and make sure that we are safe. The children did this by closing their eyes and sitting quietly. We watched 'The Poppy Story' which explains why we wear poppies, and we have created poppies in art.

Maths

During the week we have been matching numbers to corresponding quantities. Next week in Maths the children will be estimating how many objects they can see and will check by counting them.

Phonics

This week the children have been introduced to the letter sounds: ,h,f,ff and l,ll.

Next week we will revisit the letter sounds we have learnt so far and we will learn the tricky words: I, go, no.

In PE the children worked on their gymnastic skills and practised running at different speeds and in different directions.

 Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all. The children are happy to be back and have settled well into their routines. This term we have decided to hold some child initiated stay and play sessions every Tuesday morning starting next week.   Hello all,  It was lovely to welcome the new Reception class this week. We were very impressed with how calm and engaged in play the children were on their first week of school. The children are slowly becoming familiar with the new routines and new friendships are being established. We have enjoyed singing and story time together. The class took part in PE sessions with Mr Mills and the music lesson with Mrs Lawrence which were lots of fun.  Each week Reception class will take part in three PE sessions  ( Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) and on Fridays the children will be joining the whole school for the music assembly and will have a music lesson.  Next week Reception class will start Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Phonics programme and will take part in daily maths sessions.  Please remember to bring named welly boots next week if you haven't done it yet. Hello all, What a busy week we have had in foundation. The children have settled so well and are beginning to relax into their learning.  We  have enjoyed the outdoor area as we continue to have the warm sun. The class played a variety of balancing games during PE lesson and the children have enjoyed singing and dancing with Mrs Lawrence during the whole school singing assembly and the music lesson.. We are really pleased with the way the children are engaging with each other and all the activities. They are confident in asking us for help and also if they are a little unsettled they are comfortable connecting to a familiar adult for support. Phonics This week we have begun learning phonics . The children were introduced to the letter sounds: s, a, t, p. We have been identifying initial sounds in words and have practised oral blending.
