Hello all,

This week we have celebrated Diwali in the Foundation stage. We were so lucky to have our friend Kashi and her mum teaching us about the traditions of Diwali and presenting their colourful, traditional costumes to us. Kashi's mum brought a selections of  Bindis for us to wear on our foreheads which was very exciting. In art we were making Rangoli patters and we were decorating Divas.

If you would like to come to school to talk about your culture and traditions we would love to have you.  The children learn so much from the first hand experiences and make long lasting memories.

                                                             Developing our maths skills

                                                                    Playing teachers

Having fun in the leaves and learning about the Autumn season

Phonics

This week the children were introduced to the letter sounds: ck, e, u and r and the tricky word 'to'.

Next week we will learn the letters and sounds: h, b, f, ff, l, ll and the tricky word 'the'.

Maths

In maths we have been counting objects and we were using a dice to practise subitising.

Next week we will be matching numbers to quantities.

We have spent time this week learning about looking after ourselves and our bodies. The children have a good understanding of' respecting each other in the setting and knowing about their own privacy. We have shared a video from the NSPCC called 'Pantosaurus' which they have enjoyed singing along to.

Next week I would like the children to bring a picture to school from when they were a baby. We will look at the changes we go through as we grow.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the fireworks!

Mrs Sheehan
