Hello everyone,

This week Reception class looked at Spring season and Easter. We have noticed lots of signs of Spring while on the nature walk. We have made a calendar which shows the season we were born in. We have noticed, that there are lots of Winter babies in our class. During the week, we have learnt about Easter traditions and the children have created colourful Easter Eggs. We have also had a number egg hunts in the garden which was a lot of fun. 

In PE Mr Mills was teaching the children football skills this week. There are lots of talented footballers in our class.

Phonics

This week the children were learning  the letter sounds: 'ure' and 'er'. We have now introduced all of the Reception letter sounds, so in the Summer term, we will be using our phonics knowledge in reading and writing. 

Maths
This week many children enjoyed playing number games, especially Snakes and Ladders was very popular amongst the children. 
After Easter break we will learn about money.

 Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen. We have seen lots of amazing pies and beautifully decorated cakes.  The children also loved doing a puppet show. They used puppets and dressed up to perform for their friends.  Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all.  Hello all, We have a had a very Chinese week in the unit with lots of exciting activities relating to the Chinese New Year. The children have made Chinese dragons, prepared and eaten noodles using chop sticks, looked at China on our map and learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story. It has been a very busy week. The children have also tried to do some Chinese writing which was fantastic. We always enjoy this festival as it really captivates their interest  especially as we are looking at other countries each day on our map. On Tuesday, Reception class went for their first school trip to The Snow Centre. The children were very excited going on a coach as for most of them it was the first time having that experience. I'm glad all the children found the courage to go down the slope. The children were amazing and the staff from the centre commented on our children's excellent behaviour.
