Hello all,

This week we have been learning about superheroes. Our book of the week was 'Supertato' by Sue Hendra. The children have shown lots of excitement while exploring the superhero topic and have created fantastic props for their role play. We have discussed different powers that superheroes have and the children were amazed when I was showing them my magnetic power. They could not believe that all the metal objects could stick to my hand. I have never heard such silence in the classroom.

Exploring ten frames. Making number patterns.

There were lots of pancakes, delicious cakes and soups being made in our mud kitchen this week.

We have lots of  young, talented teachers in our Reception class. It is fascinating to watch their lessons and how they communicate with their students.

Phonics

In phonics we have been practising reading words with our new diagraphs 'ear' and 'air'. We have also learnt the tricky word: 'are'.

Next week the children will be introduced to the letter sounds; 'ure' and 'er'.

Maths

In maths we have used ten frames to recreate number patterns and to add quantities.

Next week we will play different number games so that the children will be able to put their existing number knowledge into practise.

We have noticed lots of signs of Spring time in our garden. Next week we will go for a nature walk and we will learn about Spring season.

We would like you to continue sharing your child's home learning with us. It would be great if every so often you could send us a picture of your child's favourite home activity such as gardening, art work or playing a favourite game through TEAMS platform.

Have a lovely weekend!

Mrs Sheehan
