This week we have introduced Hair Salon role play to our classroom. As always, the role play creates lots of learning opportunities. The children take bookings for appointments, they practise their social skills while interacting with each other, and use their maths knowledge to pay for the service. We have lots of talented, creative hairdressers in our unit.












We have celebrated British Science Week in our school. Over the week the children have engaged in variety of scientific activities. We have planted trees in our garden and have sown
 cress seeds in our classroom. On Thursday the children took part in the Forensic Science Workshop which they have really enjoyed.



















Maths
In maths we have been adding two single digit numbers using our addition calculator. We have used whole-part models to record our calculations.
We will continue the addition activities next week.








Phonics
This week we have revisited the phonemes: ai, ee, igh, oa. Next week we will look at: oo, ar, or, ur.
The children are working hard practising letter formation. Next week we will start practising capital letters from one-armed robot family: R, B, N, H, M, K, P.

 Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen. We have seen lots of amazing pies and beautifully decorated cakes.  The children also loved doing a puppet show. They used puppets and dressed up to perform for their friends.  Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all.  Hello all, We have a had a very Chinese week in the unit with lots of exciting activities relating to the Chinese New Year. The children have made Chinese dragons, prepared and eaten noodles using chop sticks, looked at China on our map and learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story. It has been a very busy week. The children have also tried to do some Chinese writing which was fantastic. We always enjoy this festival as it really captivates their interest  especially as we are looking at other countries each day on our map. On Tuesday, Reception class went for their first school trip to The Snow Centre. The children were very excited going on a coach as for most of them it was the first time having that experience. I'm glad all the children found the courage to go down the slope. The children were amazing and the staff from the centre commented on our children's excellent behaviour.
