Hello all,
I hope the children are busy at home and have adjusted to new daily routines. The new home learning activities for Reception class have been set up on our school website. I have not made the home learning list too long, as I'm sure many of you have to be working from home. We don't want to add too much pressure to already stressful situation. Do what you can. The children learn the best through play. If you could just provide paper and pencils for them, and encourage some writing related to their play it would be great. For example if they play with Lego ask them to describe the character or the construction they have created. Ask them to make a construction using exactly 20 bricks, etc Writing shopping lists and cooking recipes are usually children's favourite writing tasks. It is easier to work around your child's interests. As long as they read, write and count they are learning, and you are doing a great job.You might also encourage your child to make phonics cards. This is the list of phonics for Reception class: s, a, t, p, i, n, m, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, f, ff, j, ll, ss, j, v, w, x, y, z, zz, qu, ch, sh, th, ng, ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er. They can play school using the cards by revisiting the sounds and making words with the cards. I bet they will love it.
You should have the log in details for Reading Eggs and Mathletics. Please let me know if you have any problems accessing these.
Please say hello to your child from all the teachers. We miss them very much, and hope we will see each other soon.
If you would like to share any work that your child has done at home, please send it to my email. I would love to see what the children are up to.
Take care,
Mrs Sheehan
