During the week the children were rehearsing the Christmas concert, and are very exited about their families to come and watch them on the stage.
In our classroom we have had lots of creative activities on offer. The children enjoyed making a post box which will be used for hand made cards and letters.






As we had some colder weather at the beginning of the week, the children found some ice in our garden . They've enjoyed breaking the blocks of ice into pieces and then looked at the shapes. They found a hexagon,a triangle,a diamond and a square. We were searching for a pentagon , but have not succeeded so that we are waiting for more icy weather to renew the search.




Maths
During the week we have been learning numbers 10-20.
Next week we will focus on adding two groups of objects. The children will be introduced to the whole-part model.

Phonics
During the week the children were introduced to the sounds: th, ng, ai, ee, as well as the tricky word: was.
Next week we will learn: oa, oo, ar, or and the tricky words: me and be.

Wednesday- 1.30 pm- Foundation Performance
Thursday- 9.30 am- Foundation Performance, Christmas Dinner Day
Friday- Christmas Jumper Day


The children will need to wear Christmas colours all week.     Friday is Christmas jumper day so no uniform all week.

 Hello all, This week we have begun learning songs for the Harvest Festival. The children found lots of colourful autumn leaves in the garden which they have used for cooking in our mud kitchen.  Welcome back,  It has been a good week in foundation and the children seem very happy to be back with their friends. We have created a Winter area for the children to play and learn in, with lots of activities relating to the cold. I have included some photos for you to see.  Next week we are going to be starting  stay and play sessions. We have put families into groups so that we don't have too many people in the unit at once. Please make sure that you know what date you are invited to join us and speak to me if you have any queries. Child Initiated Stay and Play Sessions Happy New Year to you all.  Hello all, We have a had a very Chinese week in the unit with lots of exciting activities relating to the Chinese New Year. The children have made Chinese dragons, prepared and eaten noodles using chop sticks, looked at China on our map and learnt about the Chinese Zodiac story. It has been a very busy week. The children have also tried to do some Chinese writing which was fantastic. We always enjoy this festival as it really captivates their interest  especially as we are looking at other countries each day on our map. On Tuesday, Reception class went for their first school trip to The Snow Centre. The children were very excited going on a coach as for most of them it was the first time having that experience. I'm glad all the children found the courage to go down the slope. The children were amazing and the staff from the centre commented on our children's excellent behaviour.
