We have had a very exciting week in Foundation Stage. The children really enjoyed all the activities related to Harvest. We have red, watched and acted out The Little Red Hen story. The children made bread, which they then enjoyed for their afternoon snack.
In art the children made corn dollies and have painted fields of wheat.
The Harvest Festival was much enjoyed by all. The children sung beautifully their harvest songs and loved the little treats.

On Wednesday the 16th of October we will have a visit from Hertfordshire Family Centre Worker who will deliver a presentation for the Reception class children on oral hygiene.
To extend this learning , next week we will focus on healthy lifestyle. We will read 'Vegetable glue' book, and we will make some yummy vegetable soup.

Maths
The children really enjoy using conkers for number activities. They have made a great progress in counting skills and have created their own mathematical problems using conkers. Thank you so much for bringing the conkers to school.
This week we were working on repeated patterns. The children have created fantastic patterns in their self initiated play.

Next week we will work on more complex patterns using shape, number and colour. We will also look for patterns in nature and in our everyday routines.

Phonics
During the week we have practised the letter sounds learnt so far, and have learnt the sounds: m and d.
Next week we will learn g and o, as well as the tricky word and.
Have a lovely weekend !
Mrs Sheehan
